Baklava

An extremely simple interpretation of a delicious Ottoman delicacy, considered a national dessert for many countries such as Turkey, Greece and Lebanon
Ingredients
- Pastry World Puff Pastry Sheets Rolled / 5” Squares
- ½ cup pistachios, finely chopped
- ½ cup almonds, finely chopped
- ½ cup pecans, finely chopped
- 4 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 egg (for an egg wash)
Method
- Combine all the nuts. Add the golden syrup and mix well. Add more according to preference
- Fill squares as one would fill pastries (i.e., triangular). You can use the 5” Squares or cut squares from the pastry sheets.
- Put 1 tbsp of the mix in a slightly heaped pile on the pastry, fold over and close the pastry, pressing down gently.
- Cover with an egg wash
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C until golden brown
- Cool before drizzling with golden syrup and sprinkle with nuts
